Donation raises hopes of new room for L'Arche

A new donation has raised the hopes of a Bognor Regis community group for a new room within a year.

L'Arche closed in on the 40,000 mark for its project to add a community room to one of its homes around Hawthorn Road.

The latest addition to the fundraising campaign run by the community group which works with people with learning disabilities came from Arval Bank.

Arval is a specialist bank which issues the All Star credit card among other activities. L'Arche Bognor was nominated by bank worker Debbie Smith as one of 17 charities to benefit from a donation.

Her cousin, Mike Lahiff, is a resident with L'Arche in Bognor. Debbie handed the cheque to Mike on behalf of L'Arche.

The charity is seeking 80,000 for the new room to support the needs of people with learning disabilities in Bognor.

Fundraiser Mary Ann Bart said: 'We have had a fantastic response to our appeal. Depending on when we receive the balance, we hope to make the community room a reality by the end of this year.'

L'Arche has 16 residents in Bognor and ten day centre users.
