Country pub celebrations

"A NICE local country pub, very friendly and good food." is how local resident 'JJ' described Ninfield's Blacksmiths Inn at the official opening party at the weekend.

With champagne flowing, the celebrations were soon in full swing with many local people turning up to join in the party.

Since taking over the Blacksmiths last year, proprietors Peter & Denise Slinger have transformed the pub both inside and out, and Peter said it has, "changed beyond recognition."

He added: "I have erected a fabulous ten metre long verandah at the front, I have added wonderful new signs, a lovely oak post with signs on, new lighting and a completely refurbished cellar."

With a re-vamped restaurant that serves a wide selection of delicious freshly prepared meals from a menu which boats a a vast range of locally sourced produce, along with a bar serving quality wines and beers, Peter hopes the Blacksmiths will be the hub of village life.

He said: "Even those good folk who don't use the pub all tell me that the place looks great now, that it adds something to the aesthetic appeal of the village and that it makes them proud to live here."
