Council ups tax by 4.3 per cent

A rise of 4.3% in Lewes District Council Tax was agreed yesterday (Wednesday).

The council said it will help to pay for a package of service improvements to improve the quality of life for residents, including continuing our successful Clean Streets programme.

The Band D tax will be 174.09 and the rise is equivalent to an extra 14 pence per week for a Band D property.

East Sussex County Council, police and fire authority and parish (town) council precepts have to be added to the Lewes figure.
