Council seek people with ethics

ROTHER District Council is on the lookout for someone with ethics.

Two new lay people are needed for a new standards committee under the council s leader and cabinet arrangement.

The lay members will join six other appointments on the committee, which will help to set and maintain the standards of ethics in the council.

The committee will consist of four elected district councillors, two lay members, independent of the council and two representatives from parish and town councils.

It will act as a focus for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by elected councillors and co-opted members of the councils in the district.

The two lay people will play an active part in this work, reflecting the views and expectations of local people.

Trevor Elliott, district secretary, would like to hear from anyone who is interested in taking up these roles.
