Children's competition judged by local artist

A CHILDREN'S colouring competition, held at town centre restaurant No 48 Devonshire Road, was judged by local artist Tracey Brown at the weekend.

Children under eleven years of age, visiting the restaurant with their parents over the previous four weeks, had been invited to colour line drawings taken from one of Tracey's paintings which depicts a VW van.

With over fifty entries Tracey said she'd had a difficult time choosing the winners: "I was very impressed with the high standard of entries and it was difficult to decide on the winner."

Taking first place was Neave Martin-O'Donaghue, second place was eight year old Kit Bula Edge, and in third place was Sophie Hardy.

Kit said he was "very pleased" to have won a prize.

No 48 exhibits local artists' work, and donated the three main prizes of face paints, colouring by numbers and an art box, and Tracey donated runner-up prizes of fridge magnets of her VW van painting.

The competition was so successful that owner of No 48, Andy Rimmer said they plan to hold another in the New Year.
