Charity staff to pose in the all-together

STAFF and volunteers from a local charity shop are planning a fun(d) raising calender for 2011 which will display their wares as they've never been seen before.

Manager of Age Concern in St Leonard's Road, Judy Jeff, said they had been impressed and inspired after watching the 'Calendar Girls' film.

The film, released in 2003 starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, tells the story of a group of Women's Institute ladies who raise funds by striping off for a nude calendar.

Judy said, like the film, they intend that their calendar will be just as tastefully produced:

"The calendar will show staff and volunteers as they've never been seen before. The photographs will show scenes from our everyday life in the shop '“ we'll be doing everything we normally do but just wearing carefully positioned items!"

The calendar will have an added bit of spice as Judy is hoping that, along with her husband, at least two male volunteers will be joining the ladies from the Bexhill and Battle branches of Age Concern.

Judy said the response from staff and customers has been very supportive of the idea:

"We've been talking about it a lot in the shop and have had lots of positive comments. Customers have said it is a great idea and it will be lots of fun."

The calendar, which will be available from September, will cost approximately 5 and will initially be available at local Age Concern Charity shops, although Judy is inviting local businesses to offer their help with sponsorship and sales:

"We would like to get twelve local businesses to offer sponsorship to help us cover the costs, and in exchange they will get a mention by way of their logo on the calendar. Any help would be greatly appreciated."
