Chairman ready to help charities across West Sussex

West Sussex County Council's newly re-elected chairman opened his second year of office with an offer to help charities across the county.

Cllr Mark Dunn, who represents the Bourne division, near Chichester, has no plans to nominate an official charity of his own for the coming year.

But he said the county council chairman was there to serve the community, and if members would like him to help them in their sponsorship and support for local charities, they should ask him and the vice-chairman.

"We are all aware of the difficult circumstances facing the community, which is more dependent on the voluntary sector than ever before."

Cllr Dunn, a Conservative, was proposed for a second term by leader Cllr Henry Smith (Con), seconded by Cllr James Walsh (Lib Dem).

He is a former member of Chichester District Council and a former chairman of Sussex Police Authority.
