The team of eight hairdressing lecturers spent three weeks with celebrity hair stylist Lee Stafford, receiving dedicated training.

Preparing for the launch of the new Lee Stafford Education Academy at the college, the group, from different training backgrounds, were learning new techniques and ensuring they are able to pass on a standardised approach to students.

Lecturer Julie Davis qualified as a hairdresser more than 30 years ago and has been teaching for ten years.

She said: “It was brilliant. It reinvigorated us and it took us back by reminding us of why we became hairdressers in the first place.

“Lee is passionate about his approach to hairdressing and we came away with that same passion.”

Sue Sweeney, who has more than 40 years of hairdressing experience, including 20 years teaching, added: “It was inspirational.”

The new academy will launch in September, with a special event being organised for students as well as local hair salons.

Lee said: “I am very excited to be working in partnership with Chichester College.

“We share the same passion for the hairdressing industry and I want to help to show young people what a great career hairdressing can be.

“Working together we want to inspire the next generation of talent, developing an outstanding facility which really connects with local employers.”
