CELEBRITY CHEF AT FETE
The village fete took place at the Basil Ionides Memorial Centre on Saturday. Ready, Steady Cook star Tony Tobin (pictured, right) presented a live cookery demonstration and judged the cake competition along with BBC Radio 2 presenter John Marsh, who lives in the village.
Mr Tobin, who has a friend living in the village, has been to the fete for the last three years. This year's demonstration was delayed '“ the barbecue took a long while to light.

Hide AdAnd there was plenty of amusement when the TV chef, who has a restaurant in Reigate, burned one of the items he was cooking.
The event was run by a committee lead by Alison Knott, with Esme Brooks, Fiona McQuarrie, Gill Goldsmith, the Rev John Challis and his wife Jenny.
Although the final total has not yet been confirmed, a spokesman for the committee said the amount raised could be as much as 4,000 '“ which will go towards improvements to the village facilities.
Among the attractions on offer were a raffle and tombola, a penalty shootout, dog show and a vast array of traditional games such as coconut shy and 'chuck a wellie' kept both adults and children amused throughout the afternoon.
