Catsfield ready to cheer on Jack Waller in his bid for gold at London Olympics

Jack, from Catsfield, was one of 13 players selected to represent Team GB in the men’s water polo competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The 22-year-old former Claverham Community College pupil has been part of the Great Britain squad for four years.

Great Britain claimed four gold medals in men’s water polo at the early Olympic Games, but have been absent from the competition since 1956.

Britain’s return is sure to be a tough one because their six-strong group includes all of the top four finishers from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

The opposition will be provided by reigning champions Hungary, runners-up the United States, Serbia, Montenegro and Romania.

There are 12 teams in the tournament with the top four in each group going through to the quarter finals.

The event will take place between July 29 and August 12.

Jack has previously competed in a host of tournaments all over Europe and has played professionally overseas.

He spent six months in Australia and has also played for clubs in Germany and Spain.
