Car blaze in Pett

Firefighters were at the scene for more than an hour when the blaze broke out at around 3am.

A resident, who did not want to be named, captured this dramatic picture.

She said: “Flames were leaping into the air.

“Everyone was shocked at what had happened as there seemed no reason for the fire and the possibility of arson was discussed.

“Pett is a quiet, safe village and no one recalled anything like this having happened in the past. It has left the villagers both concerned and saddened.”

An investigation into the fire is underway
