Cribbage: For those of you who enjoy a game of cribbage, why not join the special cribbage tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Bear Motel. The event starts at 3pm. A good chance to start with a carvery lunch and stay on for the games. Entry is free, If you are interested call Bobby at the Bear on 01435 882540. Sounds like great fun.

Quiz: Those famous quiz masters Steve Bennett and terry parker are to give your brains a work out with one of their great music quizzes. This one is being hosted by Natalie Crabtree and Rod Clifton at the Wheel Inn on Sunday evening from 7pm. Entry is £2 and the Wheel are giving a free buffet. All proceeds to the Burwash Bonfire Society. Book a table now.

Walk: The March walk for strollers will take place on Wednesday morning. The walkers will meet at the Bear car park for 9am leave. The will be lead by Ijon Jenner around the lovely villages at a gentle pace, taking in the beautiful views and wild life. You are all very welcome to join Jon and his friendly group. The walks end back at the car park in time for lunch.

Whist: The next monthly whist drive will take place on Thursday evening in the Burwash village hall from 7pm. These fun evenings are a great way to enjoy agame of cards, make new friends and have good company. It costs £3 to play 20 hands of cards and enjoy the light refreshments. There is also a raffle. Prizes are awarded to the highest and second hihest scoring lady and gentleman and the lowest scoring. Always great fun you are all welcome to join us no matter what level of ability. All proceeds to village hall running costs.

Jumble: I am sorry to report that due to illness the Jumble sale/table top sale organised for 12 the March is being postponed until later in the year. Thank you to anyone who has offered jumble, booked a table offered help or items for sale. I will keep you posted when it has been re-arranged. Get better soon Becki.

Auction: I am delighted to report that there are some amazing lots on offer for the auction of promises which is being held on 11th march. They range from tickets to Sussex cricket, meals in the local pubs, theatre tickets, tickets to a premier football match, cakes for the freezer and so much more. To see a more comprehensive list go on to the Burwash community events facepage on facebook. The money raised from this will go towards the celebrations for the village on the Queen’s 90th birthday. Bowls: Last week the team had a league game away to their nearest rivals in the league table, Horam Cannons who currently lie one point below Burwash in second place. The matches were hard fought with the triples Joan Howard, Mary Taylor and Alan Green just holding to win by 2 shots. Keith & Angela Marden and Gavin Wood lost by one shot. After tea break pairs Keith Wood & Julie Hawkins won by 8 shots and Cherry Taylor & Alec Martin lost by one. This gave both teams 4 league points and keeps Burwash just on top. Burwash will next play at home to the Cannons on Monday and away to Hailsham Martlets on Tuesday.
