Brede playground appeal gathers momentum

A CAMPAIGN to raise £60,000 for a new children’s playground on Broad Oak Recreation Ground is well underway.

Plans for the new playground were unveil by the committee on Saturday while a Quiz Evening raised nearly £500.

Louisa Cooper, from the committee, said: “We are going from strength to strength using local events to publicise our goal.

“The Committee has been holding stalls at various events and gaining much local support. With a whopping £60,000 target, there is much to do, so the group really extended themselves this weekend by holding both an open meeting and a quiz on the same day.

“In the morning, at the open event, villagers were able to talk to committee members and see first-hand the results of the questionnaire and plans for new play equipment.

“In the evening there was a fundraising quiz at the village hall hosted by Graeme Dinning. Teams were invited to eat, drink and answer questions whilst raising money for a good cause. With a profit at the end of the evening of almost £500, the fundraising pot received a massive boost.”
