Two apologies: first is to the Methodist Church as their Craft Fair was in Christchurch Methodist Church Bexhill not St Leonards as I printed. The second is to the mobile library users. I saw the van in Brede Hall car park on Thursday 20 March, therefore the library van might be in our villages of Broad Oak and Brede this week and I apologise if any of the users have been put out.

Friday 28 March Brede Farmers weekly Market will be open from 10am to midday. Fresh produce, plants, cards and much more so that you can browse around at your leisure then perhaps stop for a coffee to enjoy with friends and support a good cause.

Short Mat Bowls is at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall. WEA gardening course is at Udimore Hall also 7.30pm.In the Rainbow Trout Sam Calver with his excellent voice will be entertaining at 8.30pm

Saturday 29 March at 9.30am the new Gardening talks continue at Blackbrooks this week they are covering Tasks for April the cost is still £2.50 and includes a beverage.

Sunday 30 March Mothering Sunday there will be a special Family Eucharist, Father Martin will be celebrating the role of mothers, Every lady will receive a small bunch of flowers, Those mums who come with their families will receive them from their children so it really is a family event. The service begins at 9.30am in St Georges Brede. At the Methodist Church the Reverend Michael Ward will lead the service at 10.30am. April Parish magazine will be out this week and will have a calendar of the Easter services as well as information about clubs, groups and events happening in and around the Parish; it is 30p and available from the local shops and St George’s Church, it can also be delivered or posted for this you need to contact Mr Peter Ridgeon, 01424 882231.

Flowers in memory of a loved one – if you would like someone remembered this Easter then Sue Sturmey would be delighted to take your name and that of your loved one. Lilies are purchased and arranged around St George’s Church the cost is £2.50 per lily. Sue’s number is 01424 882544

Monday 31 March Pilates will take place in Udimore Hall at 9.30am. Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club begins at 10.30am. Mr & Mrs Sutton entertain today, the former playing the violin and the latter plays the keyboard and tells interesting anecdotes about music. The Whist Players meet in the Brede Village Hall, main Hall at 7.30pm. Rainbows In the small Hall at 4.00pm followed at 5.30pm by the Brownies.

In the Scout Hut Beavers begin at 5.30pm to 6.30pm this is for 6 – 8 year olds and from 6.30 – 8.00pm Cubs which is for 8 - 10½ year olds.

Guides meet at Udimore Hall at 7.15pm

Tuesday 1 April Last Tuesday the Brede Luncheon Club met if you wish to dine next month please contact Christina Purkiss on 01424 882274. Back to today the Brede Painting for Pleasure group will be busy putting up their easels ready to paint at 9.30am. The Mobile Library will visit Oakhill Drive at 3pm then Reedswood Road at 3.50pm. Messy Church is from 4pm in Udimore Hall. Children are welcome to take their parents for a late afternoon full of fun

Wednesday 2 April Brede Mother’s Union meet in York Cottage where the Reverend Barbara Hobbs will give a talk at 2.30pm. Vocality the community choir is singing in Udimore Hall at 2.00pm.Yoga is also in Udimore Parish Hall at 7.00pm

Thursday 3 April Stretch those muscles and Tone them with Sally at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall she will be pleased to welcome you to her class. The Mobile Library visits the Village Hall car park at 1.25pm

Friday 4 April Pilates begin at 9am in Udimore Parish Hall. The Usual weekly Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall from 10am –12 noon. The Brede & Udimore lent lunches continue, today they are hosting the lunch in Udimore Parish Hall at 12 until 1.30pm. Everyone is welcome; the more the merrier. Short Mat Bowls are also in the Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. The Band Not Guilty is in the Rainbow Trout from 8.30pm

Saturday 5 April in Brede Village Hall the Village Dance will take place at 7.30pm for those of you that like Ballroom and Sequence dancing.

Saturday 5 April Table Sale – The Village Hall Committee is holding a pre-loved Children’s clothing and toy table sale. It is your chance to have a Spring clean and clear out all those unwanted things that have become clutter and will possibly earn you some extra cash. David Mayne has contacted me to publicise Icklesham Casuals Football Club.

They are looking ahead to 2014/15 season, and would welcome anyone who

would be interested in playing for the friendly village club next season; you need to be over 16 years of age in order to play in the East Sussex Football League. If you are16 during the season but not yet16 but interested in playing in the future please also contact them. The club was founded over 75 years ago, it has a strong base but would welcome off the pitch support from anyone who would like to be involved in helping to run the club, before, during or after the matches.
