BREAKING NEWS: Cyclist airlifted to hospital after East Preston crash

A CYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following a crash earlier this morning (March 31).

Police closed the B2140 Worthing Road ,east of Station Road, in East Preston, after a collision between a car and a pedal cyclist, shortly before 7am.

The incident took place at the junction of Worthing Road and Copse View.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The cyclist, a 24-year-old local man, suffered serious injuries. He was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance where his condition was later said to be stable.

“The car driver, a woman, was shocked but otherwise unhurt.”

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area until about 10am when it is hoped the road will re-open.
