BREAKING NEWS: Bin lorry blaze closes A259

A BLAZING bin lorry has closed the westbound carriageway of the A259 through Littlehampton.

Two fire crews are currently battling to save the ablaze vehicle, which has come to a halt west of the Morrisons roundabout.

Crews are using high-pressure water hoses and breathing apparatuses to combat the flames, a fire service spokesman confirmed.

It’s understood the emergency was reported just minutes ago, at 1.04pm.

There is no word yet as to the cause of the incident or whether anyone has been injured.

The westbound carriageway of the A259 is expected to be closed for some time.
