Bloomin' theatricals

The creative types at Christchurch Methodist Church are busy preparing for their 23rd annual Festival of Flowers to be held over Bank Holiday Weekend.

The theme will be ‘Curtain up’ reflecting many different types of theatre.

This popular and successful weekend event is again organised by the members of the Ladies Supper Club with “a little help from their friends”.

The Festival opens on Saturday May 28 from 10-4.30pm, and is also open for the same times on Bank Holiday Monday.

On these days stalls, competitions, light lunches and cream teas will be available. On Sunday May 29 the Festival is open from 2-4.30pm when cream teas will be available.

Also on the Sunday at 10.30am and 6pm there will be special services of celebration led by the Rev Stephen Maunder.

Spokesman Barry Turnwell said: “Admission is free but donations will be most welcome and this year the funds will go to the ‘I CAN’ charity (that supports children and young people who struggle to communicate), the Meningitis Trust and church projects.

“We look forward to giving a warm welcome to friends old and new to view the lovely displays, and to enjoy the other attractions to be seen in the hall and the adjacent Centenary House Church and Community Centre.”
