Bigger than ever Bognor Prom 10k road race

A record number of runners can take part in this year's Bognor Prom 10k road race.

The organisers at Bognor Hotham Rotary Club have room for a biggest ever 2,000 entrants in the Bognor Regis Observer-sponsored event.

Rotary publicity officer Peter Elliott said: "In previous years, we have had to turn applicants away.

"But, this year, we have been able to increase the number of entrants by 400 to 2,000 due to the efficiency of electronic timing.

"Runners of all standards are encouraged to get fit and take on this challenge, which has become a major sporting event for Bognor."

The 2008 race, also sponsored by Peter Cooper Volkswagon, takes place on May 18.

Its route follows a circular path from West Park along the seafront into Felpham and back again.

The charity partner for this year's race is Sammy Community Transport based in Bognor.

Those who are running in the race for charities will benefit from the expected race surplus by top ups of up to 25pc of their sponsorships when they use the Rotary sponsorship system.

Entry forms are available from the Observer offices at 14 Station Road, Bognor and Chichester libraries, Bognor Regis Town Hall and local leisure centres.
