Hide AdNeil Odin, area commander said: "The old fire station complied with building regulations relating to fire safety at the time, and did not have a smoke alarm because it was usually unoccupied and there was little or no risk to life.
To coincide with the opening West Sussex County Council Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting three part-time firefighters for the fire station.
"It is important we recruit three new male or female firefighters because the simple fact is without them, we cannot guarantee 24/7 coverage at the Fire Station," said Neil

Another of the fire station's new features is a lecture and meeting room that can be used by residents, making it a valuable resource. There is also improved access and facilities for people with disabilities.
