Bexhill Rotary Club supports our troops

When a member of the Rotary Club of Bexhill saw a letter in the Observer recently, he was concerned to learn of the discomfort suffered by some of our forces, particularly those serving in Iraq, due to the lack of replacement personal items.

It seems that things like tooth brushes and paste, razors, shampoo and other toiletries, along with T shirts socks and underclothes can be in short supply and difficult to obtain.

Through club Council, a proposal was readily passed to assist, a grant was agreed (this time from the members' own funds), and club secretary Roger Heyes set about making enquiries to find suitable products to send.

With the help of generous discounts for the cause from the Q S Store in Devonshire Road and Care Drug Store in Western Road a vast array of the above items, along with shower gel, deodorants and boxer shorts, has been purchased to be sent out to the troops in Basra just as soon as delivery can be arranged.
