Derek Golledge, chairman of the group, said interest has been high this year, particularly at the invitation-only private view.

Derek said: “It has been very, very successful. This year was possibly the busiest on the private view, which was last Wednesday (August 12).
“Every year it is crowded but this year was particularly so - we had a good few hundred people in here.
“It shows we have a very healthy following of people who have bought from us in the past.”

Hide AdDerek explained that the sheer number of organisations involved in art in Horsham presents a challenge to the district’s various art groups.
However, he added that art remains popular in the area, and said he would not have assumed the role of chairman of the association if the future was not bright.
He said: “The biggest problem I find is that there is an oversaturation of art in Horsham, there is a lot of people trying to sell art which makes it difficult.
“The museum holds fantastic exhibitions that are very well subscribed, and there are two or three more private galleries.
“We get so many people here year after year.”

Hide AdThe Association of Sussex Artists has been running since 1928, with this their 104th exhibition.
Among the highlights of this collection are Alison Ingram’s colourful oil painting of a peacock as well as some impressive abstract paintings.
A number of local artists’ pieces have been sold already.
Derek added: “The artists come from all over Sussex. There is a lot of talent in Sussex, not only Horsham and Crawley but in Mid Sussex and the south coast.”
The exhibition is ongoing this week.
