Bersted parish thanked over housing fight

HOUSING campaigner Dennis Robbins has thanked Bersted Parish Council for its support.

Mr Robbins used March's council meeting to say its members, especially Cllr Simon McDougall and Cllr Martin Lury, had totally backed those against the 650 homes now starting to be built after years of battles.

The councillors' excellent work supported the 85 per cent of residents who, Bersted Opposing Site Six member Mr Robbins stated, opposed using top grade farmland for housing and building the A259 relief road across a flood plain north of Rowan Way.

The council had stood up at great cost to the developers and Arun District Council, which wanted the development, added Mr Robbins.
