The report also praised leadership of the team, stating: “The acting head teachers and governing body have made considerable improvements in a short space of time, including raising expectations and improving punctuality and attendance.”

It adds: “Teachers are skilled in getting pupils to explain their thinking and pupils share views and learn from each other.”

On behalf of the school, Acting Head Philippa Gasson said: “We are absolutely delighted that Ofsted has confirmed our own judgement that this is a truly good school. We are very proud of our staff and pupils for this achievement”.

Ann Cockerham, Executive Principal of the Rye Academy Trust, which is supporting Beckley as part of the local Alliance structure, is particularly pleased that the hard work of the staff and support of the parents in enabling the children to make good progress has been recognised with this judgement.

Ann said “This report places the school in a strong position for the future. The staff, past and present, have been fantastic in the absence of a substantive head teacher and we are now in the right place to recruit an exceptional new head for September”.

The school is well known for its community involvement and children have impressed Beckley Horticultural Society with their entries for village shows.
