Battle Abbey prep school success for Child's Voice Appeal

Pupils and staff at Battle Abbey Preparatory School teamed up with NSPCC/ChildLine to raise money for the Child's Voice Appeal.

Pupils at the school were kept busy with a number of fundraising activities such as Buddy's Art Party and Buddy's Spelling Sprint, which involved earning points for the number of words correctly spelled, then finding sponsors to reward them for the number of points they scored.

This is a small school with just 75 pupils but they still managed to raise 1,828.16.

Head Teacher Jude Clark said: "I am always amazed by the amount of money our children raise, but they respond with particular enthusiasm when there is an opportunity to help less fortunate children."

In a 'Thank you' assembly to the children, NSPCC Schools' Organiser for West Kent and East Sussex John Whatley told the children: "I am so proud of what you have done, and you should be proud of yourselves as well. The money you have raised will help many unhappy children."

The children were told that their money would go towards vital services the society provides both nationally and locally.
