ARTIST OPENS NEWS STUDIO

NEWHAVEN artist Sophie Mahir has had a studio constructed in the garden of her house in Saxon Road.

The studio was officially opened by her daughter Vicky, 15, when she cut the ribbon.

Guests sipped champagne while watching demonstrations of painting with pastels by Sophie and jewellery enamelling by fellow artist Emilie Scriven.

Sophie and Emilie will be running day courses in her house in the spring and summer. For details contact her on 01273 512532.

This courses at Sophie's House of Colour will be an asset to Newhaven's already thriving artist's trail.
