Activities Fair for youngsters

There was a buzz of activity at Freedom Leisure when the Bexhill Children and Young People's Activity Group, chaired jointly by Rother District Council and Bexhill Consortium, hosted an Activities Fair.

Over thirty groups offering local activities set up stalls and were available to talk to youngsters and parents about their organisations.

This was a real community occasion with groups offering a wide range of activities across the arts including dance and theatre, culture, sports and child care facilities.

Many organizations welcomed the opportunity to network as well as promote their activities.

The scouting movement in particular are seeking volunteers.

Adrian Gaylon (Rother District Council) and Janet Smithson (Bexhill Consortium) expressed their thanks to all those who took part, and based on the success of this event look forward to it becoming an annual occasion.

They commented that the work of the activities group with its many effective partners is a real development for the Town and that such an event could not occur without real partnership.

The group had also brought together the summer activities programme and aims to co-ordinate and promote activities giving children and young people the chance to experience a range of leisure time pursuits.

Bexhill Consortium has an active website (www.bexhillconsortium.org.uk) and will post details and links to all the clubs and organizations represented at the event in the near future.
