Residents of Ringley Road and the surrounding area opposed the scheme due to proposals to access the new development from their cul-de-sac, and the properties behind out of character with the surrounding area.

David Skipp (LDem, Roffey North) argued for refusal due to the possibility of carcinogens on the brownfield site, which makes up part of Parsonage Farm, but Horsham District Council’s Development Control North Committee delegated the application for approval.

The majority of councillors felt that any dangers could be safeguarded by imposing appropriate conditions, ensuring development could not commence until a proper investigation of the site had taken place.

Objectors felt the application represented piecemeal development, and argued that the entirety of Parsonage Farm should be developed strategically.

A full report of the meeting will follow.
