1,000 homes proposed for Littlehampton's West Bank

RESIDENTS are facing a stark choice – up to 1,000 new homes on Littlehampton's West Bank or abandon it to the sea.

A study commissioned by Arun District Council has said protecting the area from flooding would be so expensive, the only way to pay for it would be with large-scale development.

The report, which was presented to West Bank residents on Thursday and Arun's Littlehampton regeneration sub-committe on Tuesday, would include 1,000 homes and 92,000sq ft of land, homes, business and community facilities, and also promises a man-made tidal lagoon, that would minimise flood risk, and add a "new recreational dimension to the town".
