In an update on its website, the Selsey Medical Centre explained that this was part of the drive to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible – and was running alongside the local service offered by GP practices in Chichester.

A spokesman said: “It obviously helps spread the work of vaccinating the whole adult population if you take up the offer and we would encourage you to do so if possible.

“If you can’t or do not want to attend one of these Centres, you do not need to take any action – the booking team will contact you to invite you to one of the local hubs at Tangmere or Selsey, although you may have to wait longer for this.”

Anyone who has received the invitation can book an appointment at the large centres by following the guidance in the letter.

The spokesman added: “If you have received a letter, please do not bring it to Selsey or Tangmere as these clinics are fully booked each day through a different system and they will not be able to accommodate additional numbers.”
