Traineeships on offer for young people in Hastings and St Leonards

Optivo has paid traineeships for up to 150 18- to 24-year-olds across Sussex, Kent and London who are currently unemployed and on Universal Credit.

Trainees will be offered full training, as well as a role within the organisation for six months, 25 hours per week.

Optivo, which has more than 4,500 homes in Hastings and St Leonards, said it has also pledged to help each participant find a longer term role within the company, or with one of their partners.

William Miller, director of social impact at Optivo, said: “Young unemployed people need every opportunity in the current challenging jobs market.

“We’re delighted to provide new paid trainee jobs for unemployed young job seekers and offer career start up positions for local young people.

“Our commitment is to help train and develop young talent and spark careers. It’s one of a number of activities where we aim to maximise training and job opportunities in local communities.”

The traineeships are all part of a new £2 billion Government initiative called Kickstart.

Optivo is part of the Kickstart Housing Partnership led by Clarion Housing Group.

Organisations in the partnership have secured funding from the Government to create new job placements for over 800 16-24 year olds across England and Wales.
