New cinema to open at Eastbourne landmark in 2021

The opening night for the Redoubt Cinema, housed in the town’s Napoleonic fortress, has been announced as May 8 2021, offering what is being described as a unique experience for film lovers.

Eastbourne council’s lead cabinet member for tourism and enterprise Margaret Bannister said, “We are delighted to announce the Redoubt Cinema will be open for the 2021 season.

“The newly refurbished cinema will screen a selection of themed films each month, from musicals and action to comedies and horror, featuring a combination of works from major studio productions and independent filmmakers.

“In addition to the cinema, a brand new rustic café-bar within the Redoubt will open it’s doors daily from May 2021, serving drinks and light refreshments.

“Audience members and café visitors can be confident in the knowledge that safety measures reflecting the latest government guidance at the time of opening, and thereafter, will be in place to ensure the safety of both the public and staff.”

With screenings every Saturday evening from May 8 – October 30 2021, children will be able to join in the fun on Sunday afternoon’s throughout August with a selection of family friendly titles including The Greatest Showman, The Jungle Book and a Frozen Singalong.

Cinema enthusiasts are invited to join the Redoubt Movie Club, with members benefiting from a 20 per cent discount on cinema tickets, 10 per cent discount at The Redoubt Bar, a free small popcorn at each screening and more, costing £10 for a three year membership.

Tickets are on sale from December 1 with early bird access for Redoubt Movie Club members and can be purchased, alongside Redoubt Movie Club membership, at www.eastbourneredoubt.co.uk
