REMEMBRANCE CONCERT: In Littlehampton

A NIGHT of music will remember yesterday’s soldiers while rasing money for today’s.

The Edwin James Festival Choir will give a Remembrance concert, at St James the Great Church, East
Ham Road, Littlehampton, at 7.30pm on Saturday, November 6, in aid of Help for Heroes.

It will feature the Liverpool Oratorio, written by Paul McCartney, in collaboration with Carl Davies, for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society to mark its 150th anniversary in 1991.

A spokesman for the choir said: “The text is McCartney’s own, and it draws on the events of his early live in Liverpool – his birth in the city during wartime, his schooldays at the Liverpool Institute, his youthful aspiration, and meeting his future
wife, Linda, and their life together.”

Soloists on the night will be internationally-renowned tenor Lyndon Gardner and soprano Lorna Moore from Littlehampton, and the concert will be conducted by James Rushman.

“The Edwin James Festival Choir and orchestra each year raises more than £10,000 for local and national charities and good causes,” added the spokesman.

Tickets, at £7, will be available on the door, or call 01243 582330.
