Coastal Currents kicks off with tiny sculpture

As one of the main artists commissioned by Coastal Currents Arts Festival, Cordal quickly got to work, despite the torrential rain to install the many tiny cement figurines he has created especially for the event.

Whether you consider it a “trail”, an installation or a renegade invasion, these tiny sculptures have found their homes in carefully chosen places, just out of reach. Cordal’s miniature sculptures explore themes of climate change, scepticism with authority, anonymity and the drudgery of modern life, placed in streets to criticise contemporary society. With the simple act of miniaturisation Cordal magically expands the imagination of pedestrians who stumble across his pieces. Hastings is lucky to have such sought after permanent sculptures and now starts the fun in finding them.
