Bexhill Museum

NATIONAL Trust warden Charlie Cain, from Saddlescombe Farm on the South Downs near Brighton, gave our recent lecture and provided a fascinating insight into the property, its history and its present management with a selection of slides and artefacts.

There is evidence of agricultural use dating back to the Iron Age, while the present buildings range from the 17th century up to the present day. The farm’s 550 acres are currently run as a mixed beef and sheep unit by Plumpton Agricultural College.
