A victim of success

Schiller's vast masterpiece Wallenstein has been reduced and adapted by Mike Poulton to mark the 250th anniversary of Schiller's birth.

In the title role is Iain Glen. His task is to convey Albrecht von Wallenstein, a victim of his own military success, a man who believes he is the only commander who can bring peace to the Holy Roman Empire.

On the battlefield, Wallenstein inspires fanatical loyalty in his troops. At court, politicians, jealous of his victories, howl for his dismissal and plot against his life. Conspiracy, divided loyalty and betrayal lead to a night of violent score-setting.
