Georgina Felisi, a third-year musical theatre student on the arts development course studying at Chichester conservatoire, is playing the part of Mrs Higgins in the performance on September 18.

Georgina came to the university to study the process of fundraising within the musical theatre industry.

She says her proudest achievement was fundraising along with the rest of her class last year for a musical called Made in Dagenham, a production which also premiered at Portsmouth’s New Theatre Royal.

Georgina says her career goal eventually is to create her own musical theatre company, one which works with children with learning disabilities. But in the meantime she is delighted to be involved with the forthcoming Portsmouth show.

“The relationship I have with the My Fair Lady musical is very special to me because it was the first show I performed in front of a live audience when I was in primary school.

“It is the reason I am where I am today, and I am so excited to be performing in such a beautiful theatre. I just know that with the help of public donations and future ticket sales, the theatre is capable of remarkable things.

“A large number of the members of the cast for the show originate from places in and around Portsmouth, Hampshire such as Croydon in Surrey, and Fareham.

“This allows for easy travel for the families and friends of the cast members to come and show their support. All profits from ticket sales will go directly to the New Theatre Royal to ensure the theatre’s survival in the future.”

My Fair Lady will be performed on September 16, 17 and 18 at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth.

Tickets for the show can be bought from the New Theatre Royal website at £16 per person.
