Rustington Football Club, who play in division two of the Southern Combination League, have announced they will be sponsored by UK band ‘Royal Blood’ this coming season.

The club say they are thrilled with the partnership with one of Europe’s hottest bands, who hail from Brighton, and it’s hoped the relationship can build the profile of the club.

Chairman Gareth Davies, delighted to link up with such an iconic new sponsor, said: "We are absolutely thrilled that ‘Royal Blood’ have supported us in this way.

"Ben Thatcher (drummer) grew up in Rustington and has always followed the progress of the club, so to have them across our shirts for the season ahead is a great honour,

"If at the same time it can raise the profile of the club and attract some support from their quarter of a million followers on Twitter then that’s obviously a huge plus for us."

Rustington are waiting to hear when the new kit will be able to be worn - with no county league football having been played in Sussex since March 2020 and no date yet for the start of the new season.

But the new strip is already on order with members of the band likely to be the first to receive theirs. Maybe one will be seen at a gig when live music also returns.

Royal Blood were formed in Brighton in 2011, and consist of Mike Kerr (vocals, bass guitar) and Thatcher (drums). Their self-titled debut album was released in August 2014 and they have had significant success since.
