LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club continued their scintillating league form at local rivals Wick & Barnham United on Saturday.
George Landais struck four times, while player-manager George Gaskin and Ryan Bell were also on the scoresheet as Golds made it five successive league wins.
It has been a fine turnaround in recent weeks from Gaskin’s men in the Premier Division. After nine league matches, they had just two wins but victories in their last five league meetings means they are up to eighth position.
Gaskin admitted this month was massive for his side and gave them huge praise.
He said: “Before we started this month, as a side, we knew we had to pick up some positive results.
“Fortunately, we have managed to take 15 points from 15 in our last five matches.
“This run has now given us a chance to look up the table rather than down.
“If things had not gone well in the past few matches, we could have been looking at a relegation scrap but, as things are, it’s going well.
“We were four goals to the good by the break on Saturday but it was important we remained focused and kept a clean sheet.”
Landais fired Golds ahead after 18 minutes and then added a second 11 minutes later.
The in-form frontman then completed his hat-trick after just 34 minutes.
Bell effectively ended the contest with a strike a minute before the break.
Landais bagged his fourth on 61 minutes, before Gaskin got the sixth a minute later.
Wick boss Richard Towers admitted it was a tough afternoon.
He said: “It’s always difficult coming up against a side like Littlehampton.
“They are in really good form and it was not the best time to play them. It was a tough day for us.”
