‘FANTASTIC’ was the verdict on Chippingdale Cricket Club’s annual Tenty 10ty eight-a-side junior cricket tournament held at the weekend.
The Rotary and Hillbarn recreation grounds played host to a number of teams from all over West Sussex, who participated in a fast and furious beach cricket format. Smaller, less traditional, boundaries provided youngsters of all ages and abilities the opportunity to hit an abundance of fours and sixes, much to the delight of their supporters.
Chipps chairman Paul Baker said: “After the extremely wet weather before the weekend, we had a superb couple of days of non-stop cricket from under-nines through to under-16s as well as, for the first time, some businesses and adult teams who also had a go at the same format.
“We are very grateful to Adur and Worthing Borough Council for all of their hard work in preparing the ten pitches required to play all of the matches and indeed to all of our sponsors and club volunteers who kindly supported us to make the event possible.
“It was great to hear from all those who took part the positive feedback and recognition on all of the hard work that goes into an event of this scale.”
Age group winners, under-nine: Stirlands. Under-ten: Chippingdale. Under-11: Findon. Under-12: Chippingdale. Under-13: Chippingdale. Under-14: Findon. Under-15: East Preston. Under-16: Stirlands.
