LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club captain James Askew was delighted with his side’s all-round performance in their victory against Felbridge & Sunnyside on Saturday.

Askew’s side were asked to bowl first and they quickly went through the Felbridge batting line-up. Chris Heberlein ended with five wickets, while Budd took four as Felbridge were all out for 126 in 46.4 overs.

Askew then struck 63 from 106 balls as his side reached their target with four wickets to spare.

Littlehampton’s skipper said: “It was a good win for us, with all forms of the game going well for us.

“We bowled superbly up front, with Heberlein taking five wickets and Budd finishing with four. That was the best he has bowled all season and he deserved to end with the figures that he did.

“With the bat, it was fairly comfortable. We did lose six wickets but we needed just five runs at that stage.

“It was comfortable and it was never in doubt once we got to 120.

“This win really showed that if we can get all parts of our cricket coming together what sort of a threat we can be in this division.

“Full credit must go to the bowlers as well, they have worked hard in recent weeks and they were rewarded for that on Saturday.”

Jack Williams (21) and Ryan James (20) put on 42 for the first wicket as Felbridge made a steady start.

Once James fell, though, it became a struggle and Felbridge lost nine wickets for 47 runs.

Sam Rintoul hit 24 and number 11 Timothy Heller crashed 28 to help their side reach 126 before they were bowled out.

Heberlein ended with figures of five for 41, while Budd took four for 25 from 15 overs as Littlehampton impressed with the ball.

Askew continued his fine form with the bat in his side’s response as he struck 63 to move on to 587 runs for the season.

Harry Standing hit 21 and Tom Lee scored 19 as Littlehampton got home in 37.1 overs.

Littlehampton travel to Pulborough on Saturday.
