Regarding the ‘High Street revamp’ at a cost of £1.2 million, this amount of money could surely have been better spent on something far more important.
The general opinion, from what appears on social media and other sources, is that the area was far better as it was.
Some repairs may have been needed to what became known as the bandstand which was far better than the mess that has replaced it.
The work is far from good. The paving is not safe at all for those who may be unstable on their feet.
During a walk at the location recently I saw several people stumble. No one actually fell over fortunately but I don’t think it will be long.
The seating and what I assume to be some form of sunshades are unsuitable and stupid.
In all, the whole thing is shoddy and a waste of money.
The area in south street, near the Guildbourne centre, with its trees providing pleasant shade is far better than the rubbish in Montague Place.
You can see from the pictures I have included the condition of the paving, which will get worse in just a few months.
The second picture taken in South Street is a much more pleasant. We need more trees not a load of concrete and stupid shades. Destroyed the area.
What were those who allowed this thinking of.
