I reply to Arun District Council over path dispute (Gazette, February 9, and updated online).
They say the maintenance officer says the gullies are for drainage.
Did he see the hole the width of a drainpipe at the end of the flint wall, just before the archway, Maxwelton side, and on our side how the drain has four holes, one each end and two in the centre that would take away excess water.
Plus, if we had a deluge, it would go under the back gate of Katella House, go down the path under the archway and out onto the pavement and into the gutter.
The solution would be to put a grid each side of the path to keep it even, as is the rest of the path.
Saying they repaired part of the path near the front gate, this is true, but only because it was broken up by rubbish bins constantly being taken down the path when Maxwelton was being refurbished.
Then, at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015, the garden and wooden shed, including contents, were cleared as the garden was so overgrown – again, causing more damage to the path.
Only with the help of councillor Ian Buckland did issues with rubbish in shed, no bins, fencing and path by gate get done, all completed before I came out of hospital in July, 2015.
