LETTER: Fears over bus route changes

I wondered if I could draw your attention to my local bus service that takes me and other pensioners to Sainsbury’s and Tesco?

This service is changing as from March/April and will no longer stop at these supermarkets. This means I will have no access to them to do my weekly shop. I know lots of people use the bus and will also struggle.

The only reason I know this is happening is because there was a petition against it – no formal announcement has been made and I believe this is very deliberate.

Once again pensioners in Littlehampton and Rustington are being forgotten and ignored and will be hugely affected by this as there is no other service that runs to the supermarkets.

For some it’s the only human contact they have all week.

Thy will now have to find alternative ways to shop. I am so worried about this. The only shops within walking distance are a Tesco express (a ten-minute walk) and a Londis. This is not a viable option for pensioners.

I wondered if you knew this was happening and whether you had any interest in helping us to fight against it – or find funding for a second bus. I am in the process of contacting both Tesco and Sainsbury’s for their help, too.
