TWICKERS the tortoise will be the star attraction at a special event in aid of Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice this weekend (August 17/18).

Pooh House and gardens, at Fittleworth, is open to the public from 11am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday and will be welcoming back Twickers, who turned up, mysteriously, in the gardens a few weeks ago.

Despite having a microchip suggesting he is from the Twickenham area of south London, Twickers’ owners have not yet been traced and, in the meantime, he is being care for by vets in Midhurst.

The opening hours this weekend are 11am-4pm and tickets will be on sale on the gate, price £3.50 adults and £1 for children.

As well as enjoying the wonderful gardens, visitors can enjoy talks by Reptile Rescue both days from 11am-noon, and there will also be fairy workshops lead by Jenny Graves, Queen of Fairies, at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm, glass sculpture, art prints, face painting, a teddy bear hunt and appearances all weekend by Tigger, Pooh and Piglet.
