CROWDS gathered to witness an impromptu water fountain at The Cross in Chichester.
A burst water main caused the spectacular sight on Monday morning as water fired around 15 feet high in the air.
It happened before 9am and gallons of water spurted out and down a nearby drain before it was eventually switched off at around 9.40am.
Now there have been calls for a permanent water feature in Chichester after many people tweeted about the spectacular sight.
