Two people rescued from house fire in Pulborough

Firefighters rescued two people from a home in Pulborough this morning (Friday, March 26).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted to reports of a semi-detached property on fire on Stane Street Close shortly before 6am.

A spokesman added: "Fire engines from Arundel, Billingshurst, Petworth and Worthing were mobilised to the scene.

"Upon arrival firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued two people from the property, leaving them in the care of paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“The fire was brought under control and extinguished using two high pressure hose reels and a covering jet."

The fire service said that, as of 9.10am, one crews remains at the scene.
