A CHARITY single has been launched to celebrate Enable Me’s tenth anniversary.

The not-for-profit organisation, which operates across the Arun district and Worthing, is a disability awareness charity that offers high-quality services, including education, training, outreach and volunteering, all designed and delivered by disabled people.

The song, called Inside, was first aired at the anniversary celebration on Friday.

Written by Enable Me founder Nik Demetriades and arranged by Rick Benbow, Inside is sung by Stephanie Rose, with choral contributions from several local groups.

Chris Jay, executive chairman, said: “The single was launched on the night as a surprise for our supporters. The song, called Inside (I’m Walking on Clouds), was based on all the experiences Nik had while working at Enable Me.

“After playing me an early demo, we decided that it would be a fantastic way for Enable Me to celebrate its tenth anniversary and ten years of working with some truly amazing people with disabilities.

“It was important to us that the recording strikes a balance between acoustic pleasure, for want of a better term, and involving our service users and other disabled people, so we worked with famous producer Richard Bembo and singer Steph Rose to bring the song to life.

“Disabled children from our youth club are involved in the track’s percussion and the West Sussex Superstar Choir, a group with learning difficulties, was also involved, as were some of our volunteers and the community through Worthing Musical Comedy Society.”

Through photography and film the journey of Inside has been documented along the way.

The charity, based in Bayford Road, Littlehampton, wants to celebrate everything it has achieved over the last ten years, including work with schools, colleges and the local community, as well as work with its youth club, Anim8 and sports clubs.

It is also looking towards what the next ten years may have in store and it is hoped the charity single will help raise a lot of money for the organisation.

Chris added: “The song is being sold in CD format, complete with a music video celebrating the last ten years. We are also hoping to allow people to buy the song in digital format from our website in the near future.”
