COMMUNITY Christmas lunch events are being offered support by Rustington’s new Waitrose.
For the third year running, the retailer is helping to support elderly, homeless and vulnerable people in a bid to tackle isolation at Christmas.
The campaign launches at the Rustington store today and organisers of Christmas dinner events in the area are urged to apply for support. The deadline is November 30.
David Patrickson, branch manager at Waitrose Rustington, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our support to a Christmas lunch in Worthing, and we would encourage organisers to contact us with their plans.”
The store will donate money or produce and Waitrose Partners will be volunteering their time, to show that small actions can make a big difference to people who might otherwise be on their own at Christmas.
Tina Varns, Waitrose community manager, said: “Our branches are at the centre of the communities they serve.
“We know how important this time of year is to so many people and it is important everyone has the opportunity to enjoy that.”
