Arun District Council’s cabinet has approved £317,000 of external funding to be spent on delivering the West Sussex Fuel Poverty Programme.
Arun’s fuel poverty co-ordinator will continue to use the funds to work in partnership with the community, voluntary sector and organisations across the county to reduce the impact of fuel poverty on vulnerable residents.
Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council’s cabinet member for community services, said: “With winter on its way fuel poverty will once again be back on the agenda. I am, therefore, delighted that this funding has been agreed as it helps the council to support those who need our help.
“I am delighted to see that the contract for the co-ordinator has been extended until March 2018, meaning this will help projects to continue, and initiatives developed which will assist in reducing fuel poverty across the Arun district.”
The fuel poverty co-ordinator post has been hosted by Arun since 2007 to attract funding to deliver substantial schemes promoting how to stay warm during winter.
The council’s cabinet met on Monday, September 19, to agree the recommendation.
