The homes include flats, a bungalow, terraces, semi and detached houses from one to four bedrrooms and nine (30 per cent) would be affordable.

Initial pre application advice was sought in November 2019 when the council raised concerns about it being environmentally sustainable due to the loss of open countryside and the design being out of character with the rural location.

However the council did acknowledge its shortfall against the five-year housing requirement.

A second pre application consultation was held a year later with a ‘completely revised scheme’ designed to ‘respect more positively’ the neighbouring conservation area.

A response from the council in February raised the same concerns, however.
